Randolph-Macon College relocated to Ashland in 1868 from its early home in Boydton, Virginia. Washington-Franklin Hall, Pace-Armistead Hall, and Duncan Memorial Church (renamed Old Chapel) were the original buildings that made up the campus. RMC is the oldest United Methodist-affiliated college in continuous use in the U.S. Old Chapel has been refurbished and is now used for classes, while Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church (201 Henry Street) serves as the campus chapel and as a community chapel.
